Enderman Farm in Minecraft 1.21 Java Edition: Design & Tips

Imagine enhancing your Minecraft Java 1.21 gameplay with an efficient Enderman farm. Not only would this provide you with a steady supply of Ender Pearls and Eyes of Ender, but it could also make Enderman encounters less perilous. Let's dive into creating the perfect Enderman farm for your next adventure.

Before we begin, ensure you're playing on the latest build, Minecraft Java 1.21, as the game's mechanics may have changed. Now, let's explore two main methods to create your Enderman farm: the Simple Enderman Farm and the AFK Enderman Farm.

The Simple Enderman Farm

This farm is straightforward, efficient, and suitable for players who want to actively participate. It requires a 25x25 or larger area and is best built in a well-lit space to keep Endermen from turning into hostile mobs.

To set up, create a large flat platform, then build 10 to 15 blocks tall walls around it, leaving space for a single block wide entrance. Use any block, but-end blocks to stop Endermen from teleporting out. Place Ender Pearls dispensers around the platform, pointing inwards. When an Enderman enters, the pearls will force it to the center, where you can easily dispatch it.

Enderman Spawning

Endermen require a 7-block high ceiling to spawn. So, make your farm at least 9 blocks tall, leaving 2 blocks for the Enderman to enter from above. Ensure the farm is well-lit, but Endermen can spawn in the 1-block dark entrance.

To entice Endermen, place End Crystals around the perimeter above the mob spawning area. Endermen will target these, making them easily trapped in your farm.

Automatic Collecting

For automatic loot collection, add a multi-block hopper setup below the killing area. When an Enderman dies, its drops will fall through the platform and be collected by hoppers, funneled into storage chests.

.clean, efficient, and relatively simple, this farm is an excellent choice for active players. However, if you prefer a hands-off approach, consider the AFK Enderman Farm.

The AFK Enderman Farm

The AFK Enderman Farm allows you to collect Enderman drops while you're offline or doing other tasks. It's more complex but rewards you with loot even when you're not playing.

This farm requires a 30x30 area and a 15-block high ceiling. Build walls 12 blocks high, with a 1-block wide entrance at the bottom. Above the entrance, create a 3-block high platform, then build a 10-block high wall behind it. This forms a small room where Endermen will be trapped.

Enderman Attraction

Place End Crystals along the top edge of the farm, luring Endermen towards them. Once they're within range, they'll be drawn to the small room, unable to escape due to the closed-off ceiling and walls.

Add a lever at the top of the farm, connected to a Observer and Piston mechanism. When an Enderman is trapped, pull the lever to activate the pistons, pushing the Enderman into the killing area. Place a Water column to keep Endermen from teleporting out.

Automatic Looting

Set up a multi-block hopper system below the killing area, collecting Enderman drops that fall through. Position a hopper to collect items from the dispensers used in the lever system.

Store collected items in chests, and use an AFK farming method, like a Water Fill/Air Place system, to keep the farm running even when you're offline.
