Eren's Eye Color in the Manga and Anime

The first stop on our journey is the official source material: the manga and anime adaptations of "Attack on Titan". Fans have scrutinized both mediums, looking for any clues that could reveal Eren's true eye color.

Upon examining the manga, illustrated by the series creator Hajime Isayama, some fans have pointed out that Eren's eye color seems to shift between pages. While some panels depict Eren with a distinct blue eyed gaze, others appear to showcase a more purple or even green hue. This inconsistency has further fueled the debate, with fans accusing Isayama of purposefully leaving the eye color ambiguous to spark discussion.

Reddit Theories: Blue Eyes

One popular theory among Reddit users is that Eren's eyes are indeed blue. They cite consistently depicted blue eyes in both the manga and anime as evidence for their claim. Some users even go so far as to analyze individual frames or panels, pointing out that the blue eye color is the most consistently depicted across the series.

Some fans also argue that a blue-eyed Erenalignswith the rankings of high-ranking survey corps members. Eren's superior, Captain Levi Ackerman, is renowned for his distinct blue eyes. This correlation leads some fans to believe that having blue eyes is indicative of exceptional skill and strength, a trait that Eren emphatically embodies.

Reddit Theories: Purple Eyes

On the other end of the spectrum, some fans remain steadfast in their belief that Eren's eyes are, in fact, purple. They point to several instances in both the manga and anime where Eren's eyes appear to have a more violet hue, especially during emotionally charged or intense moments. They argue that these instances are not mere artistic liberties or inconsistencies, but rather intentional hints at Eren's true eye color.

Some users have even created color correction comparatives to "prove" Eren's purple eyes. By adjusting the brightness and saturation levels of specific panels, they produce images that clearly showcase what they believe are definitively purple eyes. Despite these efforts, critics have accused these users of manipulating the images to fit their narrative, further muddying the waters of the ongoing debate.

The Impact of Lighting and Color Grading

Another point of discussion among "Eren eye color Reddit" threads is the role that lighting and color grading play in shaping our perception of Eren's eyes. Some users emphasize that the eye color can appear to shift drastically based on the lighting in a scene or the color grading of the animation or manga panel.

A perfect example of this is Eren's encounter with the Colossal Titan. In the anime, the scene is distinctly tinted with a green hue, making Eren's eyes appear green as well. This has led some fans to believe that Eren's eyes are, indeed, green, while others dismiss this as mere artistic license.

Colorblindness Considerations

Adding another layer of complexity to the debate, some colorblind fans have weighed in on the discussion. They provide insight into how they perceive Eren's eyes, with some reporting that they see a distinct blue-eyed Eren, while others claim he appears purple to them. This diversity in perception has further underscored the complex and subjective nature of the eye color debate.

Some users have even created colorblind-friendly art to better illustrate their points. One user, for instance, posted a piece of fan art showcasing a blue-eyed Eren with red hair, pointing out that many colorblind individuals may not associate red with Eren's hair, as they may perceive it as brown or another shade entirely.
