Meeting Jesus in His World

The first set of coloring pages introduces children to Jesus in various phases of his life on Earth. Let's explore two key moments from his journey.

Our first page, "Jesus as a Child," invites kids to color a young Jesus, surrounded by his family and friends, helping them understand that even Jesus had a childhood like theirs.

Jesus as a Child

Coloring this page allows children to relate to Jesus on a personal level, understanding that just like them, he grew and learned. It offers a chance to discuss how Jesus showed kindness and love even as a child.

Examples of how Jesus showed love as a child could include helping his mother with chores, being kind to his siblings, or even playing with other children, making it easier for kids to identify with him.

Jesus with the Disciples

The second page showcases Jesus with his disciples, the twelve apostles who spread his teachings after his ascension. By coloring this scene, children can understand the importance of having friends who share their faith and values.

Discuss how the disciples followed Jesus, learning from him, and how friendships can inspire us to do good. This can open up conversations about the importance of having positive influences in one's life.

Jesus Teaches and Heals

Now let's explore some of Jesus' most impactful moments, featuring scenes of him teaching and performing miracles.

The first page, "Jesus Teaching the Sermon on the Mount," allows kids to color an iconic moment where Jesus shares his teachings with a large crowd. This encourages them to think about the importance of learning and sharing wise words.

As they color, discuss the theme of kindness and mercy in the Beatitudes, helping children understand these complex ideas and how they can apply them in their own lives.

Examples could include discussing how being merciful means showing kindness even when others are unkind, or how blessed are those who work for peace, encouraging children to think about how they can be peacemakers at home, school, or in their community.

Jesus Healing the Sick

The next page, "Jesus Healing the Sick," highlights Jesus' compassion and divine abilities. By coloring this page, children can understand the importance of empathy, kindness, and making others feel better.

Talk about how Jesus healed people with love and care, encouraging young ones to think about times they've been sick and how they'd like to be treated. This can lead to discussions about the power of empathy and kindness in everyday life.

The Passion of Christ

As children grow older, introduce them to the deeper meaning of Jesus' life with scenes from his Passion and Resurrection.

The first page, "Jesus' Last Supper," depicts Jesus sharing a meal with his disciples, washing their feet, and foretelling his betrayal. This is an excellent opportunity to discuss the importance of friendship, trust, and courage in the face of adversity.

While coloring, discuss the symbolism of the bread and wine becoming Jesus' body and blood, introducing the concept of transubstantiation in an age-appropriate manner.

Encourage children to think about times they've shared meals with loved ones and the special memories those moments create, emphasizing that Jesus wanted to create a lasting bond with his disciples, even in challenging times.

Jesus' Resurrection

The final page, "Jesus' Resurrection," celebrates faith and new beginnings. Coloring this joyful scene reminds children of the power of Jesus' sacrifice and the promise of eternal life.

Discuss how Jesus' resurrection is the ultimate symbol of hope and triumph over darkness. Emphasize how, even when faced with great challenges, Jesus' love and faith remained steadfast, encouraging children to cultivate their own resilience and faith.
