This bible story, found in Matthew 14:22-33, tells of Jesus walking on water to meet his disciples during a storm. The coloring page captures the drama of this event, with Jesus confidently striding across the turbulent waves while the disciples watch in awe from their boat.

The Miraculous Act of Walking on Water

The story of Jesus walking on water is a prime example of his divine power. It demonstrates his authority over nature and serves as a testament to his identity as the Son of God.

When Jesus' disciples saw him walking on the stormy sea, they were terrified, thinking they were seeing a ghost. But Jesus quickly assured them, saying, "It is I; do not be afraid" (Matthew 14:27). This exchange reminds us of Jesus' commitment to comforting and guiding those who put their trust in him.

Embracing Fear and Trusting in Jesus

The disciples' initial fear is instinctual, but Jesus uses this opportunity to teach them about trust. He invites Peter to join him on the water, saying, "Come." Peter steps out of the boat and begins to walk on water towards Jesus, but when he takes his eyes off Jesus and focuses on the storm, he starts to sink (Matthew 14:28-30).

This sub-story illustrates the importance of keeping our focus on Jesus, especially when we face challenges and fears. When we trust in him, we too can overcome the seemingly insurmountable obstacles in our lives.

The Sailors' Amazement and Jesus' Care

After pulling Peter out of the water, Jesus and the disciples get into the boat, and the storm immediately calms. The disciples, who had experienced Jesus' miracles before, are still amazed, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God" (Matthew 14:33).

The disciples' exclamation reveals their growing understanding of Jesus' divine nature. As you color the printable page, imagine the sailors' wonder at witnessing this incredible event, and let it stir your own awe at Jesus' power and love.
