The Ascension of Jesus: A Deeper Look

Before delving into the "Jesus Ascension Coloring Sheet," it's helpful to understand the biblical account of Jesus' ascension, recorded in the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles. This event, forty days after Jesus' resurrection, marked the beginning of the Christian Church and the start of Christ's reign in Heaven.

By exploring this account and its significance, we can enrich our coloring experience and gain a deeper appreciation for the story we're bringing to life.

The Biblical Account of Jesus' Ascension

Following his resurrection, Jesus spent forty days with his disciples, teaching them about the Kingdom of God. On the fortieth day, he led them to Bethany, a village near Jerusalem. There, he raised his hands and blessed them, then was taken up into heaven while they watched (Luke 24:50-51, Acts 1:9).

Two men in white appeared, asking the astonished disciples why they were staring into the sky. They replied, "Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched him go into heaven" (Acts 1:10-11).

The Significance of Jesus' Ascension

Jesus' ascension underscores several crucial aspects of the Christian faith. It signifies the completion of His earthly mission, the inauguration of his triumphant reign in heaven, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit ( Acts 2:1-4 ). It also assures believers of their own ascension at the second coming of Christ (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).

Moreover, Jesus' ascension is a visible manifestation of His victory over death and sin, demonstrating that He is both mankind's Saviour and King. It's this triumphant and hopeful narrative that our "Jesus Ascension Coloring Sheet" brings to life.
