The Bible says, "I am the good shepherd. I know my sheep and my sheep know me—just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep." (John 10:14-15). This verse is beautifully illustrated in our coloring page, depicting Jesus tenderly guiding his lambs, a fitting representation for children to understand and reflect upon.

Understanding the "Shepherd" Metaphor

The "shepherd" metaphor is a comforting and relatable way Jesus describes his role. He is the protector, guide, and provider, ensuring His followers are safe and well-cared for, much like a shepherd does for his flock.

This metaphor highlights Jesus' love and commitment. By coloring this page, children can grasp the depth of Jesus' love and commitment to them, becoming more familiar with His character and teachings.

Exploring the Bible Verse

The phrase "Jesus is our shepherd" is derived from the 23rd Psalm, which begins, "The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing." By discussing this verse with children while they color, parents can help them understand the many blessings and provisions they receive from Jesus, their true Shepherd.

Encourage them to reflect on the other parts of the psalm, such as green pastures, still waters, and being guided along the right paths. These images can inspire thoughtfulness and gratitude in young minds, fostering a stronger connection with Jesus.
