Discovering Jesus' Promises

At the heart of our "Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit" coloring pages lies the understanding of Jesus' assurances to his apostles. These promises are not just historical narratives but living testaments of God's faithfulness, as evident in the accounts of the Early Church and throughout Christian history.

The first promise, often referred to as the "Great Commission," is a call to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. This promise, recorded in Matthew 28:18-20, is a powerful reminder of our responsibility to spread the Gospel.

Understanding the Great Commission

For children, understanding this promise can start with simple concepts. Explain that Jesus wants us to tell others about him, just like we tell our friends about our favorite toys or games.

An engaging activity could be to role-play the Great Commission. Divide the children into pairs, with one 'sharing' the good news about Jesus and the other 'listening.' This can help them understand the act of spreading the Gospel in a fun and interactive way.

Exploring the Gift of the Holy Spirit

Another Promise mentioned in Acts 1:8 is Jesus' assurance of the Holy Spirit's coming. The Holy Spirit is promised as a counselor, helper, and guide, empowering believers to be witnesses for Jesus Christ.

To illustrate this for children, use a simple analogy. The Holy Spirit is like a superhero's sidekick, always there to help and empower. Draw parallels with their favorite cartoons or comic books, highlighting how the Holy Spirit gives 'superpowers' like courage, wisdom, and love to live for Jesus.
