The printable Last Supper coloring page is a faithful reproduction of this celebrated artwork, allowing you to explore the intricate details and symbolism of the original fresco in a hands-on way.

Characters and Symbolism

Jesus and the apostles are arranged in a group around a rectangular table, with Jesus at the center. The apostles are depicted dynamically, captured in the midst of conversation and reaction, reflecting da Vinci's mastery of perspective and human anatomy.

The printable coloring page enables you to study and highlight these characters, identifying key figures like Judas, who betrays Jesus, or St. John, considered the youngest apostle, resting his head on Jesus' shoulder. You can also delve into the various symbolisms within the artwork, such as the various foods and gestures representing different aspects of Christianity.

Art Techniques and Composition

Da Vinci's use of linear perspective and chiaroscuro (the treatment of light and shade) is evident throughout The Last Supper. The printable coloring page lets you analyze and appreciate these techniques, as well as the composition's geometry.

By coloring the page, you'll notice how da Vinci employed a triangular composition, with Jesus at the vertices, to create a sense of balance and harmony.
