Generally, you'll come across two main licenses: Creative Commons (CC) and royalty-free. Creative Commons licenses allow you to use, adapt, and share images under specific conditions, while royalty-free images don't require payment for each use. Always check the license before downloading to ensure you're respecting the artist's wishes.

CC Licenses

Creative Commons licenses are a powerful tool for creators to share their work while maintaining control over how it's used. Familiarize yourself with the different types of CC licenses to make the most of these fantastic images.

Here's a brief overview of the most common CC licenses you'll encounter:

Attribution (CC BY): You're free to use, adapt, and share the work as long as you credit the creator.
Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA): You can use, adapt, and share the work on condition you also share similar works under the same license and credit the original creator.
Attribution-NoDerivs (CC BY-ND): You're free to use and share the work as long as you credit the creator, but you can't adapt or modify it.

Royalty-Free Images

Royalty-free images don't charge per use, making them an excellent option for projects with a larger budget or ongoing needs. You'll typically pay a one-time fee for a specific license, which can include commercial use and adaptability.

Some popular paid stock photo platforms offering royalty-free images include Adobe Stock, Shutterstock, and iStock. Be sure to check their pricing and terms to find the best fit for your needs.
