Pony Bases & Alicorn wurden noch nie so einfach (Translation: "Pony Bases & Alicorn Never Made This Easy")

In the world of MLP: Friendship is Magic, the term "pony bases alicorn" refers to a popular theory among fans regarding the origin of the powerful and enchanting alicorns, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. This theory suggests that alicorns were once ordinary pegasi, and through a transformative process, they evolved into the mighty unicorn-pegasus hybrid creatures we see in the series. Let's delve into this captivating hypothesis, its roots, and the evidence supporting it.

One of the primary reasons fans subscribe to the "pony bases alicorn" theory is the striking visual similarities between pegasi and alicorns. Both have winged bodies and manes, while unicorns have horned heads. An alicorn, therefore, appears to be a blend of a unicorn's head and a pegasus' body. This resemblance has led fans to speculate that alicorns might have initially been pegasi who underwent a significant metamorphosis.

Evolution of Alicorns

The "evolution" aspect of the theory is intriguing, as it implies that alicorns, or at least their pegasus halves, could have been ordinary pegasi who ascended to greater heights through a transformative journey. This resonates with the overarching themes of friendship, growth, and self-discovery in the show.

Many fans point to Princess Cadance's presence in the "A Canterlot Wedding" episode as evidence supporting this theory. Cadance bears an uncanny resemblance to the title characters, with her mane and wing markings being practically identical to those of Celestia and Luna. Moreover, her prominent role in the episode and her connection to the Mane Six hint at a more significant past that ties into the "pony bases alicorn" theory.

Princess Cadance's Role

Princess Cadance's δυνάμει (dynamei), or hidden power, is another-piece of evidence that supports the "pony bases alicorn" theory. Cadance possesses the power to amplify other ponies' magic, a skill that some fans argue could be a precursor to the potent alicorn magic exhibited by Celestia and Luna. This connection suggests that Cadance might have once been an ordinary pegasus who developed her magical abilities, eventually evolving into an alicorn.

Further support for Cadance's role in the theory comes from her relationship with Shining Armor. Given the significance of love and friendship in the MLP universe, many fans posit that Cadance's love for Shining Armor could have played a part in her transformation. This would align with the positive effects of love and friendship demonstrated in other storylines throughout the series.

The Alicorn Amulet

Another piece of evidence that fans cite in support of the "pony bases alicorn" theory is the Alicorn Amulet, an enchanting artifact introduced in "The Best Night Ever" episode. This amulet can temporarily grant the wearer the powers of an alicorn, transforming them into a being with a horned head and winged body. This transformation can be interpreted as further evidence that ordinary ponies can indeed become alicorns, given the right circumstances.

Interestingly, the amulet's design also aligns with the theory. Its base features the Cutie Mark of the user, suggesting that the alicorn transformation builds upon and enhances the pony's unique identity rather than replacing it. This aspect could indicate that the transformation begins with a pegasus and enhances it with unicorn magic.

The Transformation Process

The "pony bases alicorn" theory has sparked numerous debates among fans regarding the process by which pegasi transform into alicorns. Some argue that the metamorphosis involves a ritual or ceremony that requires great personal growth and sacrifice. Others posit that the transformation occurs only when a pegasus possesses an extraordinary set of qualities or accomplishes a specific feat.

To explore this further, some fans look to the "Sisterhooves Social" episode, where the Cutie Mark Crusaders aspiring to receive their Cutie Marks. Throughout the episode, Apple Bloom proves her dedication, perseverance, and selfless nature, ultimately gaining her Cutie Mark. Fans see these qualities as potential prerequisites for the alicorn transformation, with Apple Bloom's journey serving as a microcosm for the larger pegasus-to-alicorn evolution.

Personal Growth and Transformation

If the "pony bases alicorn" theory is correct, it implies that the transformation process might require extensive personal growth and self-discovery. By overcoming challenges and developing their unique personalities, pegasi could potentially unlock their inner alicorn power. This aspect aligns with the broader themes of the show, emphasizing the importance of individuality and personal development.

The theory also raises questions about the role of friendship in the transformation. Given the powerful influence of friendship throughout the series, it stands to reason that strong bonds with other ponies could play a significant part in the process. This connection could further solidify the "pony bases alicorn" theory, as it ties into the core values of the MLP universe.

The Power of Friendship

Friendship's potential role in the pegasus-to-alicorn transformation lends credence to the theory and offers a fresh perspective on the meaning of the elements of harmony. If alicornhood is indeed attainable through personal growth and friendship, it calls into question whether the Elements are inherently unicorn-centric or if they can be attained by any pony through dedication and unity.

The "pony bases alicorn" theory has captivated the MLP fanbase, sparking endless debates and fanfictions. Regardless of whether it holds canonical merit, the theory serves as a testament to the enduring fascination that the MLP universe holds for its fans. By delving into the complexities of the "pony bases alicorn" theory, fans are not only engaging with the series on a deeper level but also exploring the broader implications of friendship, growth, and identity. As the show continues to captivate audiences with its enchanting storytelling, it seems likely that the conversation surrounding the "pony bases alicorn" theory will remain a prominent and thought-provoking topic among fans for years to come.
