Utilizing and Respecting Reference Photos

Once you've found the perfect reference photo, it's crucial to use and credit it responsibly:

Listing Artists in Your References

When posting artwork inspired by or based on reference photos, list the artist(s) whose work you used as a reference. This practice not only shows respect for their creativity but also introduces your followers to their work and might attract new fans to their page.

Example: "Reference: [Artist's Name] ([Link to their artwork])

Transformative Works

If you create transformative artwork, such as a tracing, digitization, or detailed study, it's essential to credit the original artist and ask for their permission before sharing your work. This practice respects the artist's rights while still allowing you to share your creative process.

Example: "Tracing/Study of [Original Artist's Name]'s [Artwork Title] ([Link to their artwork]). Thanks to [Original Artist's Name] for creating the amazing reference!"

Diving into DeviantArt's vast collection of reference photos offers endless possibilities for inspiration and growth. By harnessing the platform's search and browsing features, you can tap into a world of high-quality images, connect with passionate artists, and foster your creative development. Happy exploring and learning!
