Skylanders Full Collection on eBay: Complete Guide

The fascination with the Skylanders series has led many collectors and gamers to search for the full collection on platforms like eBay. This fantasy action RPG series by Activision has been captivating players since its inception in 2011, boasting a vast array of characters, called Skylanders, each with their unique abilities and backstories. If you're among those eager to complete your Skylanders collection, eBay is indeed a treasure trove of opportunities, both new and vintage.

Before diving in, it's crucial to familiarize yourself with the extensive Skylanders universe, its various game iterations, and the immense collection of figures, accessories, and adventures they offer. Navigating the eBay landscape with this knowledge will not only help you find what you're looking for but also enable you to make informed decisions and score fantastic deals.

Understanding the Skylanders Series and Figures

The Skylanders series spans over a decade, with numerous games and hundreds of characters released. Each Skylander comes with a unique code that allows the character to be played in the game. Understanding the different types of Skylanders and their corresponding games is essential for collecting them all.

Skylanders are categorized based on their element (like Fire, Water, Magic, etc.) and role (like fighter, healer, or support), making them versatile for different gameplay strategies. Additionally, some releases have unique variants, unpainted prototypes, or are exclusive to certain retail stores or promotions, adding extra complexity and value to the collecting experience.

Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure (2011) andGiants (2012)

Kicking off the series, Spyro's Adventure introduced us to the first 32 Skylanders. These figures are renowned for their classic designs and are considered must-haves for any serious collector. Giants, the sequel, brought 8 new giants to the mix, each with their signature vehicles and powers.

On eBay, you can find both individual figures and starter packs from these initial releases. Starter packs include a game, three figures, and the Portal of Power (the device that reads the figures' codes in-game). These sets are typically more expensive but guarantee a complete play experience right out of the box.

Skylanders: Swap Force (2013) and Trap Team (2014)

Swap Force introduced a new mechanic where Skylanders' tops and bottoms can be swapped to create new combinations and abilities. Trap Team followed suit, introducing Trap Masters figures and Traptanium Traps that can capture and play as enemies.

These later releases can be found in various editions and bundles on eBay. Knowing the different releases and their rarity will help you differentiate between common and rare finds. For instance, the Swap Force's Series 2 and Series 3 figures are harder to come by than their Series 1 counterparts.

Collecting Skylanders Loose, Complete, or In Packaging

Another crucial aspect to consider when collecting Skylanders on eBay is the condition and packaging of the figures. Some collectors prefer complete sets in their original packaging, while others prioritize loose figures for playability.

eaBay listings often specify whether a Skylander is complete, loose, or unopened. Being familiar with the different packaging types - blister packs, diálogo boxes, or shrink-wrapped cards - can help you identify the best deal for your collection goals.

Complete in Box (CIB) Skylanders

For some, the allure of unopened, complete Skylanders is undeniable. These figures come in their original packaging, often still shrink-wrapped, ensuring they're in pristine condition. CIB figures can command higher prices on eBay, especially for rare or retro releases.

However, some sellers may list figures as CIB when they're merely complete, but not necessarily in their original, unopened packaging. Always examine listing photos closely to ensure the figure is truly CIB.

Loose Skylanders

Loose Skylanders can be an excellent and more affordable option for collectors who prioritize playability over completeness. Many sellers on eBay list Skylanders as 'loose' or 'individual,' referring to figures without their original packaging.

Finding loose Skylanders with their original parts, like hats, accessories, or vehicles, can be a challenge. Be sure to check listings thoroughly for any accompanying items. Additionally, understanding the difference between 'loose' and 'nib' (new in box) can help you avoid disappointment.

Accessories and Adventures: Expanding Your Skylanders Collection

Skylanders isn't just about the figures; it's also about the accessories and adventures that come with them. From vehicle upgrades to magical items, these accessories can enhance your gaming experience and are well worth considering when building your collection.

eBay is an excellent resource for finding these accessories, often listed alongside their corresponding figures. However, it's essential to be cautious when buying accessories separately, as they may not function correctly without the original figures or proper coding.

Vehicle Upgrades

Skylanders vehicles provide a fun and fast-paced way to traverse the game's worlds. Vehicle upgrades, such as the Hot Streak Racing Aero Kit or theγραφεtte's Feather Glider, allow players to customize their vehicles' capabilities and aesthetics.

Finding these upgrades on eBay can help you expand your collection and enhance your gameplay. Be sure to check the seller's reputation and read reviews to ensure the authenticity and working condition of the upgrade.

Adventure Packs

Adventure Packsoffer additional levels, hats, and even new Skylanders to add to your roster. These packs provide a wealth of content for collectors and gamers alike, and are often listed alongside individual figures or lot sales on eBay.

When buying Adventure Packs, be sure to check if the included figures are exclusive to the pack or can be purchased separately. This information will help you determine if the pack is worth the price for your collection.

As you delve into the exciting world of Skylanders collecting on eBay, remember that patience, knowledge, and careful consideration are key. The ever-changing landscape of eBay auctions and listings promises a thrilling treasure hunt for passionate collectors. So, happy hunting, and may your collection grow and prosper!
