First, we'd like to extend a big congratulations to all the talented artists who participated. From over 10,000 submissions, our judges had their work cut out for them. Here, we celebrate the top winners and share a glimpse into what made their designs stand out.
Elementary School Category
Our youngest artists never fail to impress with their imagination and creativity. This year was no different, with vibrant turkeys depicting scenes ranging from turkeys on a picnic to turkeys in outer space.
It was a close call, but the winner of the Elementary School Category is eight-year-old Lily H. from California. Lily's turkey design, 'Space Turkey Y'all,' features a turkey wearing an astronaut helmet, standing on the moon, with a planet and stars in the background. Her use of bold colors and intricate details were simply out of this world.
First Runner-Up: 'Picnic with Friends'
Next up, we have six-year-old Max L. from Texas with his delightful 'Picnic with Friends' turkey design. Max's turkey is enjoying a lovely day out with a bear, a flamingo, and a bunny, surrounded by a lush green picnic scene.
Max's use of color and his ability to capture the essence of each animal in his friend group is truly remarkable for one so young.
Second Runner-Up: 'Turkey Farmer's Market'
Not to be outdone, eight-year-old Emma K. from Michigan wowed judges with her 'Turkey Farmer's Market' turkey design. Emma's turkey is prominently located at the center of a bustling market, surrounded by a variety of fruits, vegetables, and fellow farm animals.
We love Emma's attention to detail, from the tiny blueberries to the mini-pumpkins in the market's produce section.
Middle School Category
Middle school artists continued the trend of incredible creativity, with entries showcasing advanced artistic techniques and amazing attention to detail.
First Place: 'Turkey's Evolution'
The first place winner in this category is twelve-year-old Amelia P. from New York with her compelling 'Turkey's Evolution' design. Amelia's turkey seamlessly blends into the background, transforming from a realistic wild turkey into a stylized, colorful creature.
We can't help but admire Amelia's use of shading and blending techniques to create such a captivating image.
First Runner-Up: 'Turkey in the Wild'
Coming in a close second is eleven-year-old Lucas R. from Wisconsin with his beautiful 'Turkey in the Wild' design. Lucas's turkey is nestled among fall foliage, with a majestic mountain range visible in the background.
Lucas's detailed stippling technique and his ability to capture the essence of autumn make this design a true standout.
