The eagerly anticipated return of everyone's favorite green plumber is here, as Nintendo has remastered Yoshi's Crafted World, originally released for the Nintendo Switch in 2019, for PC via the Epic Games Store. Yoshi's Crafted World Remake, or Yoshi Color TTYD as it's colloquially known, is an adorable, vibrant, and engaging platformer that captures the essence of the Yoshi franchise.

Developed by Good-Feel, the game boasts a delightful, handcrafted aesthetic that uses Yoshi's familiar papercraft look. This visual style is further enhanced in the PC version, with improved graphics, higher frame rates, and mouse and keyboard support.

Gameplay Fundamentals

Yoshi's Color TTYD maintains the core gameplay mechanics that fans of the series have come to love. Navigate Yoshi through beautiful, crafted worlds, defeating enemies, collecting items, and transforming into various vehicles to reach hidden areas.

One of the standout features is Yoshi's ability to swallow enemies and other objects, transforming them into colorful eggs that can be thrown for extra points or to reach new heights.

New Power-Ups and Abilities

Unique to the PC remake are a suite of new power-ups. The 'Color' mechanic, for instance, allows Yoshis to change color to interact with certain objects or gain new abilities. This adds a layer of complexity to the gameplay, encouraging exploration and experimentation.

Additionally, the 'TTYD' mechanic lets players dynamically switch between two daytime periods - day and 'Twilight' - each offering distinct gameplay changes and hidden secrets. This time-altering feature is a nod to the GameCube classic, Super Mario Sunshine, and adds a fresh twist to the Yoshi formula.

Multiplayer Options

The PC remake introduces a revamped multiplayer system, allowing up to four players to team up and play together. This is a significant addition, as previous Yoshi titles were primarily single-player experiences. The multiplayer aspect opens up the game to a whole new audience and encourages replayability.

Moreover, the game includes online matchmaking, joining friends for couch co-op, or playing solo with A.I.- controlled partners. It's an inclusive multiplayer system that caters to various playstyles.

Themed Worlds and Art Style

Yoshi's Color TTYD features seven distinct worlds, each with its own unique theme and aesthetic. From coastal shores to rustic farms, and even a post-apocalyptic wasteland, each world is a visual feast. The vibrant, papercraft art style pops on PC monitors, showcasing intricate details lost on the Switch's smaller screen.

Each world is littered with collectibles, encouraging players to revisit levels to find everything and complete the game's increasingly challenging S rankings.

The sound effects and voice acting, if you could call Yoshi's adorable gurgles 'voice acting', are top-notch. The game's use of audio and music comes together in harmonious balance, enhancing the player's immersion in the game's whimsical world.

Yoshi's Color TTYD isn't just a port; it's a loving recreation that respects the original while adding enough new features to feel fresh. Whether you're a seasoned Yoshi fan or a newcomer to the franchise, the PC remake is a delightful, enchanting experience that's well worth your time. So, are you ready to saddle up your Yoshi, take a journey through a crafted world, and collect those ever-elusive заб amongst the flowers in the sky?
